one reason or another we just don’t wear anymore. Maybe there is a hole, a stain or a worn out

patch - visible mending classes gives you the all skills to repair and wear them again.

All you need to do is turn up and enjoy yourself!

This Autumn I’m delighted to be teaching a new series of visible mending classes at some of my favourite wool and sewing schools in London.

Whether you’re completely new to mending or would simply like to add a few more techniques to your sewing repertoire, these relaxed, practical classes are designed to give you the confidence to repair and rework the clothes you already own.

Please join me in class, where we’ll explore visible mending as a way of celebrating the wears the tears and all the other imperfections in our clothes. Rather than trying to disguise it, I will teach you how using hand stitching, colour, texture and pattern to make a feature of it — creating beautiful pieces of artwork that become part of the story of the garment.

This autumn’s classes include Visible Mending and Sashiko-Inspired Denim Mending, with techniques and ideas drawn from my new book, A Beginners Guide to Visible Mending. I will teach you how to approach different repairs creatively, experimenting with stitch and colour, and helping you to develop the confidence to enjoy repairing your clothes. No prior sewing experience is necessary. Whilst you are welcome to bring your own project, I suggest practicing on fabric swatches before tackling your precious knitwear, particularly if you are a beginner!

Everything is taught step by step in a friendly, supportive environment, with plenty of time to practise, experiment with colour and stitching, and work on your own repairs.
